Los Angeles Galaxy Ins and Outs: January 17, 2013

The 2013 MLS SuperDraft has completed, and Bruce Arena’s Los Angeles Galaxy have made their selections in forward Charlie Rugg from Boston College (#19), defender Kofi Opare from Michigan (#24) and defender Greg Cochrane from Louisville (#38).

While Rugg’s technical game is not up to speed, he makes up for it with raw athleticsm, pace and power as attested by scouts at the MLS Player Combine. Rugg was an NSCAA/adidas High School All-American in 2008, earned All-ACC Freshman Team honors in 2009 and earned All-ACC First Team honors in 2010 and 2011. Opare, a four-year letter winner for the Wolverines, was an Big Ten All-Freshman Team selection in 2009 and was a Second Team All-Big Ten selection in 2011. Cochrane left an impact at the MLS Player Combine and brings good ball movement, service, durability and speed to the Galaxy in spite of his size.

Here is the complete draft order and selections at today’s MLS SuperDraft.
