LA Galaxy: Robbie Keane Used as a Sub For the Republic of Ireland Against Belgium

LA Galaxy forward, Robbie Keane, was used as a substitute for the second straight match in the Republic of Ireland’s loss to Belgium in the European Championships.

In the second group stage match for the Republic of Ireland, they failed to record a result against Belgium. They ended up losing the game 3-0 against the second ranked team in the world. Robbie Keane came off of the bench and was used as a substitute for the second straight match for his country.

The LA Galaxy forward was brought on in the 79th minute but failed to make a huge impact. He has been brought on late in the match in each of the last two games. Keane has yet to start a match in the European Championships this year but they still have one group stage game left.

the Republic of Ireland are tied for third in Group E with Sweden as they each have only one point after two matches. The only way that they can advance to the knockout stage of the tournament is if they defeat Italy in the final group stage game and if Sweden also defats Belgium but even then, they would need some more help on goal differential.

Romelu Lukaku opened up the scoring in this game in the 48th minute with his first goal. He ended up scoring a brace with his second goal coming in the 70th minute. Axel Witsel added a score of his own in the 61st minute. Ireland failed to score for the first time in five games.

The Republic of Ireland have not had a great performance so far in Euro 2016 but they could pull off a huge upset in their next match against Italy. It will be interesting to see if Robbie Keane will come off of the bench once again or if he will get his first start of the tournament.

It is a positive sign to see the LA Galaxy forward on the pitch after coming off of a calf injury just a few weeks ago. The Republic of Ireland’s match against Italy will take place on June 22nd as they look for their first win against one of the best team’s in the tournament. Hopefully, Robbie Keane has a bigger impact in that game.
