The LA Galaxy have been struggling as of late in MLS action but they will be looking to get back on track as they take on the Western Conference leading, Colorado Rapids.
The LA Galaxy have only won one of their last seven matches on the MLS season and they are struggling to find goals lately. They have been shutout in two consecutive games and 1-2-4 in their last seven matches. They will need to turn things around quickly if they want to remain in contention for the playoffs in the Western Conference.
The Galaxy are currently in sixth place in the West with 21 total points. They are tied with Sporting KC, the Vancouver Whitecaps, and the San Jose Earthquakes in points. LA has only played in 14 games this season which is less than most MLS teams but that doesn’t excuse their poor play as of late.

Los Angeles is the highest scoring team in Major League Soccer with 27 goals scored but their poor run lately has seen them take a significant drop off in goals. In their last two games, the team has looked extremely poor going forward in the attacking third.
The Galaxy have been without Steven Gerrard, Gyasi Zardes, and Robbie Keane in their last few matches because of injuries and international tournaments. This could be a cause of their poor play but the other players on the squad need to step up in their place. They have only registered two shots on target in their past two games.
The team has also fallen into a bad trend of allowing late game goals that cost them points and matches. They have allowed goals in the 76th minute against Toronto, 90+4 against Montreal, and in the 87th minute against San Jose which has cost them two losses and one draw. The Galaxy will need to sure up their defense near the end of games to be able to hold onto points and results.
The main issues with the team could be solves by their best players returning from international breaks and injuries but this is supposed to be a deep team that should be playing well without them. Los Angeles has looked like a shell of their former selves as they can not create chances going forward and their defense has given up late goals. That is not a winning recipe and the lost points could come back to haunt the team in the stands as the season goes on.
The LA Galaxy will now need to try to turn things around against the best defensive team in the MLS and the Western Conference leaders. The Colorado Rapids have been one of the best clubs this year but Los Angeles definitely has the talent to easily get back to their winning form. The return of Gerrard, Zardes, and Keane should help the team in the coming weeks.
