1. Overall Record:
The LA Galaxy are currently 5-3-6 on the season with 21 total points. That is good enough to put them in playoff contention in the Western Conference as they are currently tied for the fourth seed with Sporting KC, Vancouver Whitecaps FC, and the San Jose Earthquakes. The team is averaging 1.5 points per match as they have only played in 14 games this season.
The Colorado Rapids are currently sitting at the top of the Western Conference with a record of 9-2-4 on the year. They are currently 10 points ahead of the Galaxy with 31 total points this season. They have also been the best defensive team in the MLS.
2. Last Match:
The last meeting between the two sides came earlier this season on March 12 as the Galaxy traveled on the road to take on the Rapids. That game say Colorado defeat LA 1-0 in a hard-fought match. The lone goal was scored by Marco Pappa in the 95th minute in stoppage time. That was a heartbreaking result for the Galaxy.
3. Current Form:
Los Angeles has not been great over their past six games going only 1-2-3. They will be looking to regain their form as they have been shutout in their last two matches. The team will try to grab their first win since May 8 against the New England Revolution.

The Rapids are currently on an unbeaten streak as they have gone 4-0-2 in their last six matches. They have not been defeated in their last 10 games on the season. Colorado’s last loss came against Real Salt Lake on April 9.
4. Leading Players:
The Galaxy are led by Giovani dos Santos who has scored six goals on the season. Mike Magee is just behind him with five goals scored. The team will need their leading scorers to contribute if they want to have chance in this one.
The Rapids have three players that are tied for the team lead in goals scored. Jermaine Jones, Kevin Doyle, and Luis Solignac have all scored three goals on the season for Colorado.
5: Missing Players:
LA will likely be without Robbie Keane and Gyasi Zardes for yet another match as they are competing in international tournaments. It will be interesting to see if dos Santos, Steven Gerrard, or Robbie Rogers will be healthy enough to return to the pitch in this one. They all missed the team’s last game against Toronto.
The Rapids will be without Jermaine Jones who is competing with the USMNT in the Copa America tournament. Also on the injury report are Sean St. Ledger (knee injury), Bobby Burling (right knee surgery 6/7, out 5 weeks), Jared Watts (face injury), and Marco Pappa (sprained knee 4/18, out 2-4 weeks).
This should be an interesting match between the best offensive and best defensive teams in the league. The Galaxy will need a result/win in this game more than Colorado because of their recent struggles. The Rapids have had a surprising season and they will be looking to continue their great form.
