Bruce Arena’s Los Angeles Galaxy continued their winning ways to close out the month of August with a comprehensive 3-0 shutout victory over Mark Watson’s San Jose Earthquakes. The victory gives Los Angeles a 13-9-4 record (43 points), good enough for the second-best record in Major League Soccer.

Here are the player ratings for the Los Angeles Galaxy against the San Jose Earthquakes.

Jaime Penedo 7.5

Three saves on the night, according to the Opta Chalkboard. Distribution is a bit iffy, though (17 successful passes, 14 unsuccessful ones).

Leonardo 7.5

Another clean game from Leonardo. 93 percent pass success rate and 10 clearances equals…solid, clean game.

Todd Dunivant 7

77 percent pass success rate, seven recores and three interceptions. Todd Dunivant bossed the left side on Saturday and will need to do so next week against Colorado.

A.J. DeLaGarza 7.5

Gets a bonus for a 96 percent pass success rate. DeLaGarza also had five recoveries and three tackles won. Good effort on the right. Most likely he will be moved back to center back this coming weekend.

Omar Gonzalez 8

12 clearances, seven recoveries, and an 86 percent pass success rate. Cuidado, Omar acerca. ¿Listos, Ticos?

Sean Franklin 8

Solid flank play on the right side with three clerances, three recoveries and an 83 percent pass success rate. Flick-ons and crosses need work.

Gyasi Zardes 7.5

Effective on the left side, earned a penalty for Robbie Keane and dished out an assist for another Keane goal to ince the match. Also had six recoveries. Did have a 72 percent pass success rate and was ineffective with his dribbling. Still, his performance is a start, and a breakthrough.

Marcelo Sarvas 8

90 percent pass success rate and four recoveries. Sarvas did well to mix things up, winning his duels and connecting in terms of passing. Also had an assist.

Juninho 7

Average effort from Juninho: four interceptions, three clearances, six recoveries and an 88 percent pass success rate.

Robbie Keane 9

More in the next piece.

Landon Donovan 8

Opened up the scoring in the first half, got four recoveries and had a 69 percent pass success rate. Crosses do need work, however, as well as set pieces. Expect that to be fixed when USA head off to Costa Rica.

Michael Stephens 5

Goat of the match for giving San Jose their best scoring opportunity of the night and nearly cost the Galaxy their shutout victory.
