Steven Gerrard returned to the first team for Los Angeles after missing two games. Newly signed homegrown player, Jack McBean, got the start and played the full 90 minutes in this one. He looked impressive.

LA Galaxy goalkeeper, Brian Rowe, had one of his best games of the season as he kept out every shot that he faced in this one. He made five saves to record his sixth shutout and clean sheet of the season. He was definitely the Man of the Match in this game that didn’t see any goals but saw some great saves.

First Half:

Even though there was no scores in the first half, there was plenty of action. Colorado’s, Axel Sjoberg, saw a yellow card in the 15th minute for his foul on McBean. One of the Rapids’ best chances came in the 31st minute when Marlon Hairston was free on a breakaway but couldn’t beat Brian Rowe one on one as he cam dup with a huge save.

Second Half:

Rowe again came up huge in the 60th minute when Colorado had a two on one but Brian saved Hairston’s shot on goal once again. Steven Gerrard come off of the bench as a substitute in the 61st minute to replace Baggio Husidic. Mike Magee then replaced Giovani dos Santos in the 72nd minute.

The Galaxy saw potentially their best scoring chance of the match in the 79th minute when Sebastian Lletget saw his cross meet Emmanuel Boateng in the penalty box. Boateng’s shot then was cleared off of the line by a Colorado defender. LA continued to put pressure on the Rapids’ defense all night but especially in the final 10 minutes of the match. Both teams had some incredible chances but the goalies came up big for both sides.

This now the third straight match in which the Galaxy have not scored. They looked a lot better going forward in this one as they created plenty of chances. Los Angeles has not scored in 302 consecutive minutes of game time. Ashley Cole missed this match due to a minor injury.

Even though the LA Galaxy only came away with a point in this match, they looked a lot better than they have recently. Jack McBean also looked great in his first MLS start this season. The team will next playa against the San Jose Earthquakes in the California Clasico on Saturday, June 25th.
