LA Galaxy rally to thrash LAFC 4-2 in historic MLS victory
By Manuel Meza
The LA Galaxy made a dramatic comeback to clinch a 4-2 win over LAFC in MLS Week 29. This wasn’t just another victory; it was a clear message that the Galaxy can flip a game with flair and determination!
The match, held at the iconic Dignity Health Sports Park, saw LAFC take an early lead with goals from Bogusz in the 4th minute and Bouanga in the 15th. The Galaxy, however, were far from disheartened. As the first half ended with LAFC ahead, it was clear that LA Galaxy needed a spark to ignite their comeback.
Enter Dejan Joveljic. The Serbian forward, who has been a key player for the Galaxy, delivered just that. Joveljic scored twice, once in the 53rd minute and again in the 67th minute with an assist from Riqui Puig, who was having an exceptional game.

Edwin Cerrillo joined the scoring spree shortly after, finding the back of the net in the 55th minute, with another assist from Puig. Puig wasn't done yet, though. In the 86th minute, he delivered a perfect pass to Marco Reus, who set up Puig for a stunning finish. Puig’s performance was outstanding, with a goal, two assists, and six chances created through 88 minutes. His presence on the field was a game-changer.
The defense tightened up, and the midfield, led by Puig, took control. The tactical decisions from Greg Vanney, despite some initial surprises like the absence of Mark Delgado, ultimately paid off. It’s worth noting that Vanney’s choices often stir debate, but in this case, the Galaxy’s second-half display showed that the team’s resilience and skill could not be underestimated.
The win solidifies the Galaxy’s reputation in El Tráfico as a force to be reckoned with. It was more than a victory. As the team prepares for their next match against the Portland Timbers on September 19, they’ll carry the momentum and confidence from this impressive performance.
