As LA Galaxy prepares for their third Leagues Cup match, this time in the Round of 16, having advanced with a perfect record from victories against San Jose Earthquakes and Chivas de Guadalajara, the latter being secured through a penalty shootout, news emerges about the transfer market, potential signings, and possible departures.

One particularly surprising potential departure is currently under discussion.

One of the major highlights and positive developments for LA Galaxy at the start of the 2024 League's Cup has been the young 22-year-old goalkeeper Novak Micovic, who has started in both matches and performed well.

Micovic was a surprise hero in the Galaxy's victory over Chivas in the penalty shootout, saving a crucial penalty that secured the win for the Los Angeles team. He also had a solid performance in his first match against the Earthquakes in the Cali Clásico.

Despite this, journalist Tom Bogert reports that Micovic has requested a transfer. Bogert notes on his X account (formerly Twitter) that Micovic started as the Galaxy's goalkeeper in both Leagues Cup matches, but he is not expected to start in the upcoming game against Seattle.

Bogert also mentions that Micovic has appeared in eight matches for the Galaxy since joining the Californian team last year.

However, it is important to highlight that the same journalist concludes his report by stating that people from LA Galaxy insist that Micovic remains firmly part of the club's long-term plans.

Therefore, uncertainty surrounding this situation persists and is likely to continue until a resolution is found in future transfer windows.

Why do we think this? Frankly, it seems difficult to believe that, given the current situation with two competitions to play and a tight schedule, Galaxy would part ways with a goalkeeper who has already demonstrated considerable talent and is very young compared to their current first-choice goalkeeper, John McCarthy.

Thus, there is no certainty at the moment, but this report undoubtedly attracts attention and could be troubling news for Galaxy fans. Regardless of the club's plans, having a player who does not want to stay is never ideal.
