2. The comeback victory over rival LAFC

Following Reus's debut, the LA Galaxy dropped an unexpected game against St. Louis City SC on the road. The 2-1 defeat was unfavorable as it came before the third and final regular season match against their rival, LAFC.

The Galaxy had dropped both prior editions of 'El Trafico.' On April 6, LAFC won, 2-1, on their home field against their cross-town foe. John McCarthy couldn't save one of LAFC's early attacks as the LA Galaxy were down 1-0 after the first four minutes of the game.

On July 4, these two teams did battle in Pasadena, California at the Rose Bowl. The result was the same, 2-1, as the LA Galaxy couldn't overcome the 2-0 deficit following the first half.

Third match between these rivals took place in mid-September. It appeared to be a case of deja vu. Two early goals allowed by McCarthy, again. The Galaxy were down 2-0 by halftime.

It took 15 minutes in the first half for LAFC to score twice. It took the LA Galaxy 15 minutes in the second half to tie it up.

Dejan Joveljic ended the shutout with his first of two scores at the 53rd minute. Edwin Cerrillo found the back of the net two minutes later.

Lewis O'Brien for LAFC was issued a red card in the 79th minute. After Joveljic's second score, Puig pushed the game out of reach for LAFC to come back.

What could have been three more points and a third straight win in as many games against LAFC become one of the greatest comebacks in the Galaxy's season and franchise history. It also clinched a playoff berth for the Los Angeles Galaxy with a month left to play in the regular season.
