3. History is in favor of the LA Galaxy against Minnesota, and so is goal differential

Sunday evening will mark the 17th edition in this particular matchup between the Los Angeles Galaxy and Minnesota United FC. History has been in favor of Puig, Pec and company.

The two teams first played one another in 2017. The Los Angeles Galaxy either won or tied every time in their first eight games.

In the past two years, the Galaxy are 2-1-1 against Minnesota. In addition to winning at Dignity Health Sports Park against them in July, the Galaxy tied them at Allianz Field, 2-2, in the middle of May.

The MLS Conference Finals are single elimination games. Thus, the LA Galaxy only need to win once more to send Minnesota packing and continue their own season in the hopes of their record sixth MLS Cup title.

Despite finishing the regular season with as many losses as Minnesota, the LA Galaxy won four more games as oppose to four draws. That gave the Galaxy 54 total points in the Western Conference Standings while Minnesota finished with 52 points.

The LA Galaxy allowed 50 scores during regular season while Minnesota was one goal better with 49 total on the year. Vanney's team nailed an MLS Western Conference best 69 goals in 2024. Only Miami and Columbus scored more this season.

Both of those Eastern Conference threats were ousted in the opening round. The LA Galaxy look to wrap up their next opponent's season on Sunday when they face Minnesota.

Prediction: Los Angeles Galaxy 3, Minnesota United FC 1.
