Three factors for another LA Galaxy playoff win and one red flag
By Scott Conrad
The Los Angeles Galaxy are no strangers to the MLS Western Conference Playoffs. They're also all too familiar with winning against Minnesota United FC. In their 16 games against each other, the five-time MLS Cup champions have won half of the time (eight).
Minnesota has only bested the LA Galaxy three times and tied five others. If the Los Angeles Galaxy can avoid a fourth loss against their next opponent, they advance to the MLS Western Conference Finals.
While the odds look to be in favor of the host team defeating their visitor, here are a few reasons why along with one reason why not.
1. Carson, California
Simply put, the Los Angeles Galaxy are phenomenal at home. They have yet to lose a game at Dignity Health Sports Park in 2024.
Thus, the game on Sunday being played in Carson gives the second seed a major advantage against Minnesota.
The Los Angeles Galaxy won 2-1 against Minnesota at home back on July 7 earlier this season. Forward Gabriel Pec scored both goals, one in each half.
Miki Yamane and Mauricio Cuevas each recorded an assist from the scores. Thus, the balance of power belongs to the Galaxy when it comes to games played in Carson, California.
