San Diego FC is gearing up for its MLS debut, with their first match scheduled against none other than LA Galaxy.

As said by The San Diego Union-Tribune, the match will take place during the MLS opening weekend on February 22-23, 2024, at the Galaxy's home ground in Carson, California. The exact date and time of the match, along with the full MLS schedule, will be announced in December.

San Diego FC also learned that their first-ever home game will be held on March 1, 2024, against St. Louis City SC at Snapdragon Stadium in Mission Valley, San Diego. This is an exciting new chapter for the club and its rapidly growing fanbase, as they prepare to test themselves against some of the league’s top teams.

San Diego’s journey into MLS started with strong momentum, beginning with their hiring of head coach Mikey Varas, who recently served as interim coach of the United States men's national team.

The team’s ambition became even clearer when they signed Mexican star Hirving “Chucky” Lozano in June, adding significant firepower to their roster ahead of their inaugural season.

San Diego FC's current roster already features some key players, including forward Marcus Ingvartsen, midfielder Jeppe Tverskov, defender Paddy McNair, goalkeeper Duran Ferree, and winger Alex Mighten.

The matchup against LA Galaxy presents an intriguing storyline, as San Diego's brand-new squad takes on one of MLS’s most storied franchises.

The Galaxy, who finished second in the Western Conference during the 2024 regular season, are well-established and preparing for their playoff run against Colorado Rapids on October 26. The encounter will not only be a test for San Diego but also a statement game for LA Galaxy, as they look to continue their success in the new season.
