2. Maya Yoshida, Defender

This professional soccer is a veteran but made his debut last year in MLS with the Los Angeles Galaxy. Now 36 years of age, the Nagasaki native spent the majority of his playing career in Japan.

Like Delgado, his gross pay this year is $800,000. That is nearly double the combined salaries of goal keepers John McCarthy and Novak Micovic this year. It is hard to imagine that the LA Galaxy would offer in a multi-year deal for a player on the wrong side of 35.

The tenacious center-back has appeared in 39 games and scored three times including a pair of goals this season. Despite not recording an assist yet this year, Yoshida registered three in 2023.

Also the author of 'Unbeatable Mind,' Yoshida's firs goal of this season salvaged a tie, 3-3, against St. Louis City early on in March. His other goal was a part of the 4-3 victory over San Jose in April.

Yoshida is not the only defensive player the LA Galaxy has on their roster. Thus, why there is a high likelihood that this captain's days are numbered with the Galaxy.
