Los Angeles Galaxy's newest star shines brightest in their 15th win of season

Welcome to Los Angeles (and 1st Place), Marco Reus!
Though Saturday's game started off a bit sluggish, as neither team scored in the first half, the game between Atlanta United and host LA Galaxy ended in exciting fashion.
Ricard Puig's goal in the 76th minute was enough for the Galaxy to claim the win and three more points in the Western Conference Standings. The assist came from the new kid in school.
He is the international sensation that the Los Angeles Galaxy signed a few weeks ago. In that same play, Marco Reus has officially entered the chat. His pass to Puig outside the box resulted in the first of two goals for the LA Galaxy.
"America, and especially the [LA] Galaxy, was my first choice... I am here to bring the championship home and together, of course, together with my teammates."
- Marco Reus, LA Galaxy's newest member
The second goal was an unassisted strike from Reus. Along with Puig and the rest of the LA Galaxy star's, the Western Conference leaders dominated most of the game. They controlled the ball over 70% of the game.
Despite Atlanta United getting off 17 shot attempts, only four were on target. Keeper John McCarthy bounced back nicely since the 3-1 loss against the Seattle Sounders during the 2024 League's Cup. He finished with four saves resulting in a shutout.
Forward Dejan Joveljic did not start but was listed as a substitute. Reus came in for teammate Marky Delgado at the 62nd minute. Gaston Brugman and Miguel Berry would also take the field replacing Edwin Cerrillo and Diego Fagundez, respectively.
The Los Angeles Galaxy was awarded three different corner kicks as their opponent had none. Although the Galaxy collected two yellow cards (Puig and Joseph Paintsil), they committed just eight fouls to Atlanta's dozen infractions.
This shutout carried weight and was a slight sign of redemption. In the last three regular season matchups between these two teams, the LA Galaxy ha been blanked all three times as they were outscored by combined 9-0 in those contests.
Saturday night showcased many reasons why the LA Galaxy are atop the Western Conference. Reus has now inserted himself on the list of those reasons in less than one half of game play.
