LA Galaxy shake off San Jose Earthquakes with ease
By Scott Conrad
Saturday night, the LA Galaxy played another stellar game. With their third victory in as many games this season against San Jose, the Galaxy now have 40 points in the Western Conference Standings. This gives them a share of first place with their in-city rival, LAFC.
The LA Galaxy were more efficient with their shooting than their opponent. The Galaxy had 14 shot attempts with half of those (7) being on target. San Jose had 18 shot attempts with only six being on target. None of which made it into the back of the Galaxy net.
The victors also won the corner kick battle as they had seven in the contest, one more than San Jose. The Earthquakes have now lost five games in a row and have not won since May 11th. The LA Galaxy have claimed victory in six of their last seven games.
Joseph Paintsil scored the first goal for the LA Galaxy at the 37th minute of play. The assist was credited to Gabriel Pec. This was the sixth goal of the season for Paintsil and the eighth assist of the year for Pec.
Dejan Joveljic added the second score for the LA Galaxy. His unassisted header game in the 72nd minute of play. The Serbian forward now has 12 goals in 2024 for the LA Galaxy.

What's next for the LA Galaxy?
Their next opponent is LAFC on Thursday, July 4th. The winner gains their independence from the share of first place. The LA Galaxy looks to avenge their 2-1 loss back on in early April.
The two LA squads are not only tied for first place in the Western Conference but they also are tied with the second most goals scored this season with 41 a piece. This easily could also be a preview of the MLS Western Conference Finals.
