LA Galaxy's starting player substituted due to injury in Seattle clash
By Manuel Meza
In the latest match of the MLS 2024 season, the LA Galaxy faced off against the Seattle Sounders at the Dignity Health Sports Park on Saturday, March 30th.
Unfortunately, during the 28th minute of the game, Martin Caceres, the 36-year-old Uruguayan center-back, fell to the ground after what appeared to be a collision in the Galaxy's box. He had to be substituted, with the 32-year-old Salvadoran center-back, Eriq Zavaleta, taking his place on the field.
While Caceres initially remained on the ground, he was able to walk off the pitch under his own power, suggesting that the injury may not be severe. He appeared to be experiencing discomfort in the back of his left thigh. Further details about the extent of his injury are yet to be determined.

It's worth noting that in the Galaxy's previous match against Sporting KC, Eriq Zavaleta filled in for Martin Caceres as the starting center-back. Caceres was suspended for that game due to receiving a red card in the preceding match.
The injury to Caceres comes as a blow to the Galaxy, as he has been a key figure in the team's defense. His experience and leadership on the field will be missed if he is sidelined for an extended period. The Galaxy coaching staff will be monitoring his condition closely and hoping for a speedy recovery.
With this match, Martin Caceres had accumulated playing minutes in 5 out of 6 games in the current 2024 MLS season.
