LA Galaxy's situation, increasingly worrying
The end of the regular season in Los Angeles is being resounding. The LA Galaxy, an ambitious project that has great talents such as Riqui Puig, Douglas Costa, and Chicharito Hernandez, has not been able to move from the penultimate place in the Western Conference with only 3 regular league games remaining.
The team's current slump is especially worrying. The Galaxy have 7 games in which they have only achieved a single victory. If we limit ourselves to the last 5 games, the Los Angeles Galaxy are the second-worst team in the West, only surpassed by Minnesota United.
This situation could have been worse if it weren't for two miraculous performances. The first of them was against Minnesota United, who came back from 1-3 down thanks to a memorable performance by Billy Sharp including a hat-trick. In the second of them, Galaxy rescued a point in Austin with two agonizing goals in the last 5 minutes of the game.
Although the team has the three stars mentioned above (Douglas Costa, Puig, and Chicharito), in addition to great complements such as Maya Yoshida or Billy Sharp himself, the team needs reinforcements in several lines of the scheme if it wants to be competitive next season.
The creation zone is one of the weakest pieces of the team, and without that, the great attacking talents do not receive good balls to make a difference. Furthermore, their performance at home must improve significantly to stop losing essential points in the fight for the Playoffs.
