2. Lock up the Western Conference's top seed and homefield advantage.

The host venue for the Los Angeles Galaxy is Dignity Health Sports Park. The five-time MLS Champions have yet to drop a regular season contest there this year.

Despite being listed as the home team against LAFC back on Thursday, July 4th, that game was played at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California.

If the LA Galaxy were to wrap up the top seed, it would guarantee homefield advantage throughout the Western Conference finals. In addition, the top seed would have another benefit of playing a team fresh off an additional game (8th seed vs. 9th seed).

This could play out to work in favor for the LA Galaxy should they secure the number one seed. Even with a second-place finish in the West, it would guarantee them the coveted homefield advantage leading up to the Western Conference Finals.

Though this format was only introduced last year, it did not fair too well for top-seeded St. Louis City FC. They were bounced early from the playoffs by eighth-seeded Sporting Kansas City.

Considering the Los Angeles Galaxy are undefeated at Dignity Health Sports Park, Vanney may prefer to keep this in mind as the Galaxy finish their final eight games this regular season.
