LA Galaxy's 2023 squad decisions and current roster for the 2024 season
After concluding the 2023 season, LA Galaxy unveiled the roster decisions for the club's 2023 squad in line with the MLS deadline for submitting bona fide offers and contract renewals.
The club has retained the following players under guaranteed contracts for the 2024 MLS season: goalkeeper Jonathan Bond, defenders Julian Aude, Martin Caceres, Mauricio Cuevas, Raheem Edwards, Marcus Ferkranus, Chris Mavinga, Jalen Neal, Maya Yoshida, and Eriq Zavaleta; midfielders Gaston Brugman, Edwin Cerrillo, Mark Delgado, Diego Fagundez, Riqui Puig, and Jonathan Perez; and forward Dejan Joveljic.
Galaxy exercised contract options for goalkeeper Novak Micovic, midfielders Daniel Aguirre and Gino Vivi, and forward Preston Judd. The club extended an offer to midfielder Tyler Boyd for the upcoming season.
LA declined contract options for the following players for the 2024 season: goalkeeper Jonathan Klinsmann, defenders Tony Alfaro, Calegari, Kelvin Leerdam, midfielder Uri Rosell, and forward Billy Sharp.
Midfielder Douglas Costa and forward Javier “Chicharito” Hernandez are out of contract and will not return to Galaxy for the 2024 season. With both departing, Galaxy has two Designated Player spots available on the roster for the 2024 season. Additionally, midfielder Adam Saldaña and forward Michael Barrios are out of contract and will not return for the 2024 season.
The current Galaxy roster for the 2024 season, is as follows:
- Goalkeepers: Jonathan Bond, and Novak Micovic.
- Defenders: Julian Aude, Martín Caceres, Mauricio Cuevas, Raheem Edwards, Marcus Ferkranus, Chris Mavinga, Jalen Neal, Maya Yoshida, Eriq Zavaleta.
- Midfielders: Daniel Aguirre, Gaston Brugman, Gino Vivi, Edwin Cerrillo, Mark Delgado, Diego Fagundez, Jonathan Pérez, Riqui Puig.
- Forwards: Dejan Joveljic, Preston Judd.
