On the heels of Saturday's big come from behind victory against LAFC, the Los Angeles Galaxy found themselves on the receiving end of a 4-2 onslaught. The LA Galaxy dropped their seventh game this season when they couldn't win on Wednesday night.

The LA Galaxy trailed every minute of this contest since the first goal allowed by the Timbers' Jonathan Rodriguez in the 17th minute of play. Evander would add a score at the 39th minute.

Thanks to Gabriel Pec's 12th goal of the season in stoppage time during the first half. That cut the deficit for the Galaxy to just one goal.

Evander added another goal, his 14th of the year. This came early in the second half as the Galaxy appeared to lost the same confidence in a comeback that they possessed just four days ago.

Despite Joseph Paintsil being the next soccer player to find the back of the net, the Timbers regained a two-goal lead when Felipe More contributed to the scoreboard with his 14th goal of the year, as well.

On paper, you would have thought the LA Galaxy won, but...

The Los Angeles Galaxy maintained ball control for about 60% of the game. They drew less fouls and yellow cards in addition to being awarded more corner kicks and recording more saves. The Galaxy even had more shot attempts than the Timbers.

The soccer gods were not kind to Pec, Painstil and the rest of the Galaxy. The loss drops their record to 16-7-7 with just four games to play.

The goalkeeper for the LA Galaxy allowed four goals this game. It is the highest total in a single regular season game he has allowed all year. McCarthy has been able to stop multiple goals in 17 games prior to this blemish in Portland.

While the LA Galaxy still hold their grip on first place in the Western Conference, they were unable to add another three points to the distance between them and second-place LAFC.

Both teams play again on Saturday. LAFC will travel to Texas and play Dallas FC. The Los Angeles Galaxy will return to Dignity Health Sports Park, where they have yet to lose a game during the regular season.
