LA Galaxy condemns racist incident against player during LAFC match
The recent clash between LA Galaxy and LAFC, dubbed "El Tráfico," took a disturbing turn as it was marred by a post-match racist incident, according to a statement released by LA Galaxy via social media.
The victim of this incident was Joseph Paintsil, a Ghanaian forward recently signed by LA Galaxy from Belgian Pro League club KRC Genk. Following Galaxy's 2-1 defeat to LAFC, Paintsil became the target of what the Galaxy termed a "racist social media incident."
Reports indicate that the incident unfolded when an LAFC supporter left a derogatory comment on Paintsil's Instagram post, criticizing his performance during the match and using racial slurs. Although the comment has since been removed, screenshots circulating on Reddit reveal the nature of the offensive remark.
In response, LA Galaxy swiftly issued a statement expressing solidarity with Paintsil and condemning the racist abuse he endured.
