The Los Angeles Galaxy have their travel plans set for this week. They will be playing in Colorado against the Rapids as both teams have clinched a playoff berth already.

With 58 points, the Galaxy hold an eight-point lead in the Western Conference Standings over the fourth place Rapids. They are six points ahead of both LAFC and Real Salt Lake.

Prior to the 4-2 victory over the Vancouver Whitecaps, the LA Galaxy spent three games in a row in an early first half hole of either 1-0 or 2-0. That is a huge reason why they dropped two of those contests (Portland Timbers and St. Louis City SC).

The last time the Galaxy faced the Rapids, they were the ones who found themselves up early. Credit to Diego Fagundez on his score the 12th minute of play as his team never trailed in that game.

What is at stake this game?

For starters, the Los Angeles Galaxy are on a path to earn the top seed in the West. The last time they did so was in 2011and won their third MLS title.

The number one seed would give Head Coach Greg Vanney and his squad homefield throughout the Western Conference playoffs. The Galaxy have yet to lose at Dignity Health Sports Park this season as they have just one home game left on their schedule.

A win on Wednesday gives a major spot of adrenaline and momentum back to the Galaxy who have not won consecutive games since prior to Marco Reus's debut. After the 2-0 win against Atlanta United, the five-time MLS champions have gone 2-2 without any draws.

The victory keeps pace ahead of LAFC and Real Salt Lake. It would end the Rapids slim chances for the number one seed.

The three main objectives for the Galaxy for Wednesday's game are...

First, at starts with the man in the net, John McCarthy. He has allowed ten goals in four games including four against the Timbers two contests ago.

Prior to that stretch, McCarthy had only allowed 33 goals in the Galaxy's first 26 games. He played in 24 of them as their back up, Novak Micovic played in two.

Second, as mentioned earlier, the first half deficits to begin the game have hurt the Galaxy. Too many times they have played down to open up the game and having to work twice or three times as hard to make up for it.

Lastly, the third goal for the LA Galaxy should be to get everyone involved. The roster is deep with talent. Injuries have affected some of the players but getting playing time for everyone would be a good objective to meet as the Galaxy look towards playoffs in less than three weeks.

Prediction: Colorado Rapids 1, Los Angeles Galaxy 3
