Billy Sharp's departure from LA Galaxy after the 2023 season has sparked speculation about a potential return to Sheffield United for the seasoned striker. Despite expressing a desire to continue his playing career, Sharp revealed on the No Tippy Tappy Football podcast (h/t The Star) that returning to his former club might not be an immediate option.

In his conversation on the podcast, Sharp indicated his willingness to do anything for United and expressed a desire to train with the Blades to maintain his fitness. "I asked to go in and train, just to keep my fitness up for the next move that hopefully I make soon," mentioned Sharp, highlighting his commitment to staying in shape for potential future opportunities.

Addressing his potential return as a player, Sharp admitted, "I won't be going back as a player, even though I’d love to. My wife would hate me if I did, she wouldn’t want me to go back for the way [his departure] got dealt with." Despite a desire to reunite with United, Sharp acknowledged certain familial considerations in his decision-making process.

Reflecting on his departure from the club, Sharp revealed that the way his time at Sheffield United ended had a lasting impact on him. "It took me a while to get over it," he confessed, emphasizing the emotional toll of his departure. Despite this, Sharp remained connected to the club, watching United games from the US and staying engaged with the team's progress.
