2. Landon Donovan

Perhaps one of the more famous homegrown national talents MLS and the Olympics have seen is this man here. From 2005 to 2014, Donovan appeared in 247 games and tallied 112 goals for the Los Angeles Galaxy.

Donovan played for the San Jose Earthquakes prior to joining the LA Galaxy. While a member of the Earthquakes, he won his first two MLS titles in 2001 and 2003.

He was a part of four of the five MLS Championships the LA Galaxy have won. Donovan's first season in 2005 ended with a championship title, as did back-to-back years in 2011 and 2012. The final one came in 2014 which is the last time the Los Angeles Galaxy has earned the honor.

Ending his retirement, Donovan would later return in 2016. Shortly lived, he would only play in six contests and record one last goal for the LA Galaxy.

From 2000-2014, Donovan represented the USMNT. He appeared in 157 games and is the only United States player to net more than 50 goals and assists.

Donovan left his mark not only on MLS but also on the USMNT. In his honor, MLS renamed the MVP Award in his honor after winning a record six MLS titles. In addition, he is currently the league's all-time assists leader.
