Not all stars remain with the Los Angeles Galaxy
By Scott Conrad
3. Preston Judd
This last forward of our feature not only stayed in MLS this season but he remained with a team in California. Judd left the LA Galaxy for the San Jose Earthquakes.
He was the only player on the roster last season that weighed in over 200 pounds. The 6'5'' athlete was the biggest member of the LA Galaxy, so to speak.
Judd tallied three goals and two assists in 17 games last season. In a transaction that sent $200,000 in General Allocation Money (GAM), the Los Angeles Galaxy sent Judd packing upstate to San Jose.
In 2024, Judd started in as many games (6) for the Earthquakes as he did the season before with the Galaxy. Despite playing in more contests this MLS season, he only was on the field 64 more minutes than in 2023.
Just like Barrios, people who follow the Colorado Rapids may remember Judd last year. Unlike his former teammate, Judd never played for the Rapids. However, his first goal game in the 3-1 loss against Colorado. His lone score prevented the shutout even though the LA Galaxy did not get the win.
Earning the Western Conference's second seed more than made up for last year. Furthermore, the Los Angeles Galaxy extracted a strong level of revenge in 2024 against the Rapids. Not only did they win both regular season matches, but the team also eliminated Colorado from the playoffs with a two-game sweep in the opening round this month.
