Could changes for the defending MLS Cup champions be coming?

Three ways to fix the Los Galaxy following their 0-0-3 start to begin the season.

2. Micovic is NOT the answer at goalie.

After an 0-0-3 start, this one is not on John McCarthy. The younger goalkeeper, Novak Micovic, started all three games to begin the regular season thus far.

The LA Galaxy have lost all three while giving up at least two goals in those contests. McCarthy had a much stronger performance in the 1-0 loss last Wednesday against Herediano than any one of Micovic's this season.

That's why we suggest pulling the Serbian goalie from the Starting XI and put back in the 2022 MLS Cup Finals MVP. Only FC Dallas and Real Salt Lake have allowed as many goals (7) as the Los Angeles Galaxy.

However, those two teams have won a game and scored three times or more this year. McCarthy becoming the starting goalie may not fix all of the team's problems. But, it certainly can with at least one of them.

"I mean, it's the worst start that we could have. We played four games, four losses. Conceded too many goals. We are not scoring so many goals. Just one."
Marco Reus, LA Galaxy midfielder

3. Go back to the 4-3-3 formation.

While we know that this is not the same roster as last season, the same formation could work. Yes, McCarthy in goal rounds out the starting lineup.

Place Ramirez up top where Dejan Joveljic, who is now with the other 0-0-3 team in the West (Sporting Kansas City), used to play. Place Pec on the right side along with Miguel Berry on the left side.

Yes, start Berry with Pec. The two are not only familiar with each other but they duo have generated the only successful run on offense. Insert Berry, Ramirez, and Pec from left to right up top.

At the midfield, have Edwin Cerrillo, Marco Reus and Diego Fagundez from left to right. There, you have three veterans who are also familiar with this formation and lineup.

On the back line, have Yamane be there if healthy. If not, give Harbor Miller the start. John Nelson and Maya Yoshida on the left side of the back four are solid together. Then, anchor Carlos Garces next to them with Miller or Yamana on the right side.

That gives Vanney the starters the best chance to thrive as Tucker Lepley and Elijah Wynder can come off the bench along with Ascel Essengue, Zanka and Julian Aude. Ruben Ramos Jr, also makes a strong player to the second unit, too.

Should the LA Galaxy go with this lineup and/or any other changes, their next time playing is Wednesday at home against Herediano. The LA Galaxy need to score and multiple times, too, if they look to advance to the Quarterfinals of the Concacaf Championship.
