Saturday's season finale will mark the 43rd time that the Los Angeles Galaxy and the Houston Dynamo FC teams have squared off in Major League Soccer. The five-time champions hold the 17-11-14 edge over their opponent.

While the LA Galaxy are battling for that coveted number one seed in the Western Conference, Houston is vying for playoff seeding, too. A win or tie by the Galaxy automatically gives the current leaders homefield advantage in the playoffs, regardless of the result from LAFC's season finale.

Pec & Puig scored for the LA Galaxy in the previous game against Houston this season. After finding themselves down 1-0 early on, the team persevered and earned a 2-1 victory.

"The team has been doing great. Also, myself. I hope I can help my team moving forward."

Gabriel Pec, Los Angeles Galaxy Forward

The Galaxy are 4-0-1 in their last five games entering Saturday. Houston has been shaky as they have only won twice in as many games (2-1-2).

The LA Galaxy won their first MLS Cup in 2002. They did so again in 2005. In the following two seasons, Houston would defeate the New England Revolution to claim their first and second titles.

After nearly winning it again in 2009, the Los Angeles Galaxy raised their third and fourth MLS championships when they beat the Houston Dynamo FC in back-to-back seasons (2011 & 2012).
Houston has not been back to the MLS Finals since and the Galaxy are in a ten-season drought themselves having not been since their fifth title in 2014.

This might not be the last time these two teams see each other this year, either. Depending on how the seeding works for both clubs, this could be a potential second round matchup in the Western Conference Semifinals.

Regardless, two soccer clubs with a storied history are looking to add to their collection of championships. Both play on Saturday with seeding and momentum on the line.

Prediction: Los Angeles Galaxy 3, Houston Dynamo 1.
