Sporting Kansas City vs. Houston Dynamo: 10 Bold Predictions

The first leg of the 2013 MLS Eastern Conference Final between Peter Vermes’s Sporting Kansas City and Dominic Kinnear’s Houston Dynamo ended in a scoreless draw at BBVA Compass Stadium in Houston, Tex. Now, with the scene turning to Sporting Park in Kansas City, Kan., the series becomes essentially a one-off match to determine who rules the East.

Kickoff at Sporting Park in the second leg is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. CT/7:30 p.m. ET and will be televised by NBC Sports Network. Here are 10 Bold Predictions for Saturday’s night’s showdown in Kansas City between Sporting Kansas City and the Houston Dynamo.

1. At least four goals will be scored

So the first leg didn’t produce any goals and was a snoozer. Well this time, there will be goals in the second leg. At least four shots by either side will find the back of the net.

2. At least 30 fouls and four yellows

No one will be sent off in this match, but there will be plenty of fouls and cards. The View from Avalon calls for at least 30 fouls and four cautions.

3. Omar comin’! Cummings, that is

Omar Cummings is looking to be Houston’s Mr. November, and he will score on Sporting Kansas City to keep his hotstreak alive. However, there are others…who won’t get the job done.

4. No goals or assists for Will Bruin

Will Bruin, in the regular season, has eight goals and seven assists. He is one key player that will not get on the scoresheet for Houston on Saturday.

5. No goals or assists for Brad Davis

Another player that won’t get on the scoresheet is Brad Davis, Houston’s top provider with nine assists in 2013. Davis’s set pieces will be cleared and Sporting Kansas City will close him down.

6. Tally Hall with under five saves

One player that will look to keep Houston in this is goalkeeper Tally Hall, who had 95 saves in 2013. Hall will make under five saves in what will be a losing effort for the Dynamo.

7. Graham Zusi with a goal and an assist

One player that should get going for Sporting Kansas City is Graham Zusi, who had six goals and eight assists this past regular season. Zusi will earn a goal and an assists on Saturday.

8. A brace for Claudio Bieler

The one player that will lay the nail in the coffin for Houston is Claudio Bieler. Bieler had 10 goals and four assists in 2013, and if Houston don’t lock down his finishing touch, Bieler will earn a brace, as predicted by the View.

9. Jimmy Nielsen with at least five saves

The Danish Dynamite, Jimmy Nielsen, will deliver in goals for Sporting Kansas City. Look for Nielsen to make at least five saves on Saturday against Houston.

10. Sporting Kansas City’s home field advantage delivers

Sporting Park provides one of the top home field advantages for Sporting Kansas City, and a spirited performance from the best team remaining in the East is on the cards. Sporting will move on to the MLS Cup Final.
