No refunds, fans; you all got your money’s worth. Bruce Arena’s Los Angeles Galaxy drew 1-1 with Sigi Schmid’s Seattle Sounders on Saturday night at the StubHub Center in Carson, Calif.
With the draw, Los Angeles improve to 13-10-6 (45 points), good enough for fourth place in the MLS Western Conference.
There are players that impressed, and there are players that didn’t. The Player Ratings for the Los Angeles Galaxy against the Seattle Sounders will tell the story.
Jaime Penedo 6
Gets a deduction for giving up a goal in the first half to Eddie Johnson. Penedo had a 75 percent pass success rate, according to the Opta Chalkboard and only made one save all game.
Omar Gonzalez 7.5
Gonzalez was a workhorse in the back. 16 recoveries, eight interceptions, five clearances, a through ball and a 79 percent pass success rate on 62 touches. Not bad.
Sean Franklin 7
Franklin also had 16 recoveries, but didn’t pad any other stats, with three tackles won and two interceptions. 84 percent pass success rate on 85 touches, but Franklin really struggled with his crosses on Saturday.
Todd Dunivant 6
Two tackles won and lost each, three interceptions, five recoveries and a decrepit 64 percent pass success rate. Of the four members of the backline that started for LA, Duni was the weakest link.
Five clearances, seven recoveries, two tackles won and an 89 percent pass success rate. Another solid shift from Leonardo, who was subbed out in favor of Michael Stephens after he suffered a knock late.
Hector Jimenez 4
Not a good effort from Hector Jimenez tonight. Five unsuccessful crosses, only three recoveries and an interceptions and a 71 percent pass success rate on 49 touches. We’ve seen better from him, though to be fair, that’s few and far between.
Marcelo Sarvas 6.5
Seven recoveries and two tackles won and lost each, but Sarvas does get credit for a 90 percent pass success rate on 70 touches.
The Man of the Match for the goal that put the match on level terms. Also, because it was his first of the year. In addition, Juni got 12 recoveries, three though balls and a 81 percent pass success rate on 78 touches. Well done.
Gyasi Zardes 5
Decemt performance, with five recoveries and two interceptions and a 73 percent pass success rate on touches.
Robbie Keane 5
More in the next piece.
Jose Villareal 5
33 percent cross success rate and a 63 percent pass success rate. For a young star, this was a passable effort. Gets the benefit of the doubt for being in Landon Donovan’s position on Saturday.
Laurent Courtois 4
After nearly delivering the nail in the coffin off the bench, Courtois was taken off the ball at will. He will need to step his game up against Cartagines.
Jack McBean NR
Michael Stephens NR
Came into the game late, no rating given.
