Bruce Arena’s Los Angeles Galaxy are back in action in the 2013 Guinness International Champions Cup on Saturday, Aug. 3 against Antonio Conte’s Juventus at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, Calif. The Galaxy fell to Real Madrid 3-1 on Thursday and will hope to bounce back against a Juventus side that fell on penalties, 6-5, after a 1-1 draw with Everton.
The winner of this match will play for fifth place in the tournament. Here are 10 bold predictions for the Galaxy against Juventus.
1. Los Angeles will score
Jose Villareal is a young player with promise, and he will hope to build a scoring streak with another goal on Saturday against arguably the greatest club in Italy.
2. At least four saves from Brian Rowe
In spite of a tough shift on Thursday, goalkeeper Brian Rowe will have a good shift on Saturday, making at least four saves to keep the scoreline respectable.
3. Robbie Keane will not start against Juventus
It seems that Robbie Keane is starting to become a liability with his injury issues, and it doesn’t look like he will be a go on Saturday against the Bianconeri. No goals or assists or even a start from Keano.
4. Juventus will score first
Last season, Chilean midfielder Arturo Vidal score 15 goals in all competitions for Juventus. Here is someone that can get the job done as a provider and a finisher. Vidal will earn a goal and an assist on Saturday.
5. Also on goal, Mirko Vucinic
The face of Montenegrin football, Mirko Vucinic scored 14 goals in all competitions for the Bianconeri and is ready to get back into form this season. Look for Vucinic to double the advantage for Juventus.
6. Here comes Carlos Tevez
One of the more controversial figures in football, Carlos Tevez is also a proven winner, having earned club titles and individual honors with Manchester United, Manchester City, Corinthians and Boca Juniors. Tevez will earn a goal and an assist to lead Juventus.
7. Under five saves for Gianluigi Buffon
With the gulf in talent between both teams being as it is, longtime Juventus goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon will not have to make a lot of saves. Buffon will only need to make under five saves on Saturday.
8. Fabio Quagliarella gets on the scoresheet
Forward Fabio Quagliarella scored 12 goals in all competitions last year for Juventus and is looking for an even bigger output this season. Against the Galaxy, he will do so in his limited time on the pitch at Dodger Stadium.
9. Under 25 fouls and three yellows
With this being a friendly, not a lot of fouls will be whistles and not a lot of cards will be issued. Under 25 fouls will be called and less than three yellow cards will be issued, with no reds.
10. Juventus walks all over Los Angeles
As was the case in the previous match with Real Madrid, the Galaxy will be exposed in the back, and it will be up to the Bianconeri to use precise passing and finishing to come out on top.
