The main objective for Bruce Arena’s Los Angeles Galaxy this July is to make everything count. And that means: make every game count, every result count, and so on and so forth. Many times this season, such ambitious instances do not happen, resulting in games that get away from them, and it’s happened a lot.
But every time they do, it is compelling, it is strong, and it resonates, giving a struggling team the momentum it needs to believe in themselves. The Galaxy edged the Crew, 2-1, at the StubHub Center on Independence Day 2013 to improve to 8-7-3 on the season. Here are the player ratings for the Los Angeles Galaxy against Columbus.
Carlo Cudicini 6
Cudi’s struggles continue in goal late, with just two saves to his credit. To his credit, his distribution was solid, according to the Opta Chalkboard. with a 85 percent pass success rate on 20 touches.
A.J. DeLaGarza 6
30 successful passes on just four bad ones but was silent on defense, with five clearances to show for it.
Omar Gonzalez 6
Gets a bonus for racking up 14 recoveries but a minus for going on a cold steak with his headers.
Todd Dunivant 6.5
49 successful passes against 16 bad ones, three interceptions, and five recoveries. Balanced effort.
Sean Franklin 7
58 successful passes against 15 bad ones, five headers and nine recoveries. Did his share defensively.
Hector Jimenez 4
Was poor with his passes and crosses and only had three recoveries defensively. Those aren’t easy big shoes to fill, Hector…
Robbie Rogers 5
Has to do a lot better with his crosses. Gets a bonus for racking up seven recoveries.
Good game in terms of production from Juninho, with a 67 percent success rate on 12 crosses, 59 successful passes against 15 bad ones, seven key passes and four recoveries.
Marcelo Sarvas 7

Robbie Keane 8.5
More in the next piece.
Gyasi Zardes 3
Forgettable night, to say the least. Perhaps another spiel in Reserve League action might remedy Gyasi’s dire finishing situation.
Jose Villareal 4.5
Not much to do off the bench, but he does get a bonus for drawing a penalty that brought the match on level terms.
Colin Clark NR
Jack McBean NR
