View from the Pali Blues: July 1, 2013

The Los Angeles Strikers are the one team the Charlie Naimo’s Pali Blues have been unable to defeat this season, and the shortcomings that this team has had have been apparent. At the Home Depot Center on Saturday, the Strikers swept the Blues, 2-1, thanks to goals from Mel Fernandez in the 54th minute and Jamie Bell in the 81st minute.

Mele Franch was able to pull one back in the 82nd minute but by that point, the damage had been done.

The result means that the Blues now need to win out the rest of their schedule to stand any chance of catching the Seattle Sounders, who are in the lead despite the Blues having a game in hand. This week will be especially critical for the Blues.

On Jul. 5, they host the Colorado Rush at Palisades Charter High School’s Stadium By the Sea in Los Angeles, Calif. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. PT/10 p.m. ET. On Jul. 7, they host the Bay Area Breeze. Kickoff is scheduled for 5 p.m. PT/8 p.m. ET.
