2013 USL Pro Power Rankings: Week 12


In this week’s USL Pro Power Rankings, the Richmond Kickers are at the top after pulling off one of the upsets of the year in the league. Aside from that, there hasn’t been much movement in the Power Rankings, with a number of teams sitting out this week.

Here are this week’s USL Pro Power Rankings on the View from Avalon.

1. Richmond Kickers

Goals from Michael Seaton (57′) and Brian Ownby (77′) gave Leigh Cowlishaw’s Richmond Kickers a surprise 2-0 victory over Orlando City at the Citrus Bowl in Orlando, Fla. on Saturday. On Sunday, they played to a scoreless draw with VSI Tampa Bay FC at Plant City Stadium in Plant City, Fla.

Richmond return to action on Jul. 6 with a match against the Dayton Dutch Lions at Beavercreek High School in Beavercreek, Ohio. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET.

2. Pittsburgh Riverhounds

Justin Evans’s Pittsburgh Riverhounds were off this past week. Pittsburgh host the Charlotte Eagles at Highmark Stadium in Pittsburgh, Pa. on Jul. 4. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET. On Jul. 6, the home stand continues with a match against the Los Angeles Blues. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET.

3. Dayton Dutch Lions

Joel DeLass (45′) and Shane Smith (85′) powered Ivar van Dinteren’s Dayton Dutch Lions to a 2-2 draw with the Charlotte Eagles at Beavercreek High School. The Dutch Lions have a couple of matches this week. On Jul. 4, they face the Rochester Rhinos at home. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET. On. Jul. 6, Dayton host the Richmond Kickers. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET.

4. Orlando City

Adrian Heath’s Orlando City were shut out, 2-0, by the Richmond Kickers at the Citrus Bowl. They will look to bounce back with a couple of matches. On Jul. 3, they travel to Legion Stadium in Wilmington, N.C. to clash with the Wilmington Hammerheads. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET. The road trip continues when Orlando take on the Charleston Battery on Jul. 5 at Blackbaud Stadium in Charleston, S.C. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET.

5. Charleston Battery

Michael Anhaeuser’s Charleston Battery were off this past week. They return to action on Jul. 5 against Orlando City at home. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET.

6. Charlotte Eagles

In spite of goals from Christian Ramirez (22′) and Jorge Herrera (63′), Mark Steffens’s Charlotte Eagles were stonewalled, 2-2. by the Dayton Dutch Lions on the road.
Like many teams this week, the Eagles have two matches on tap. On Jul. 4, they take on the Pittsburgh Riverhounds at Highmark Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET. On July. 6, the Eagles travel to Sahlen’s Stadium in Rochester, N.Y. to clash with the Rochester Rhinos. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. ET.

7. Harrisburg City Islanders

Bill Becher’s Harrisburg City Islanders scored a vital 2-1 win over Phoenix FC Wolves. Yann Ekra (14′) and Sainey Touray (73′) scored for the City Islanders, who face the Wilmington Hammerheads on Jul. 6 at Legion Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET.

8. Wilmington Hammerheads

David Irving’s Wilmington Hammerheads rallied to beat the New York Red Bulls Reserves 2-1 at Red Bull Arena in Harrison, N.J. thanks to goals from Mickael Olveira (59′) and Steven Perry (89′). The Hammerheads have a couple of matches this week. On Jul. 3, they host Orlando City at Legion Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Wilmington then continue their home stadn on Jul. 6 against the Harrisburgh City Islanders. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET.

9. Rochester Rhinos

Jesse Meyer’s Rochester Rhinos were held to a scoreless draw against Phoenix FC Wolves at Sahlen’s Stadium and will look to improve with a couple of matches this week. On Jul. 4, they travel to Beavercreek High School to play the Dayton Dutch Lions. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET. On. Jul. 6, Rochester host the Charlotte Eagles. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. ET.

10. Los Angeles Blues

Daryoush Yazdani’s Los Angeles Blues were off this past week. The Blues continue their season on Jul. 4 at home against Antigua Barracuda FC. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. PT/10:30 p.m. ET. On Jul. 6, the Blues travel to Highmark Stadium to face the Pittsburgh Riverhounds. Kickoff is scheduled for 4 p.m. PT/7 p.m. ET.

11. VSI Tampa Bay FC

Matt Weston’s VSI Tampa Bay FC played to a scoreless draw with the Richmond Kickers at Plant City Stadium. They return to action on Jul. 13 against the Charleston Battery at Home. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET.

12. Phoenix FC Wolves

David Robertson’s Phoenix FC Wolves opened the week with a 2-1 defeat to the Harrisburg City Islanders at the Skyline Sports Complex. Isaiah Shafer scored in the 36th minute for the Wolves. They followed that up with a scoreless draw against the Rochester Rhinos.

Phoenix return to action on Jul. 6, when the host Antigua Barracuda at Sun Devil Soccer Stadium on the campus of Arizona State University in Tempe, Ariz. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. PT/10:30 p.m. ET.

13. Antigua Barracuda

Tom Curtis’s Antigua Barracuda FC were off this past week. On Jul. 4, the Barracudas travel to Titan Stadium to take on the Los Angeles Blues. Kickoff is scheduled for 10:30 p.m. ET. On Jul. 6, Antigua travel to Sun Devil Soccer Stadium to face Phoenix FC Wolves. Kickoff is scheduled for 10:30 p.m. ET.
